Things may look a little different here, for a while. We have some unpleasant news to share. We are being forced to put VicePorn.com on a temporary hiatus, but the key word here is temporary.

Since we began this journey over a year ago, we've learned that running a porn site isn't as easy as we thought. We've had to figure out a lot of this as we go along. However, we think we've been doing a pretty decent job. Maybe not perfect, but we're pretty sure we've made some smiling faces. but every now and then we've found obstacles in the path of pornography. The newest obstacle comes in the form of revisions to the laws regarding pornographic content. (Section 2257, for those of you in the know.) First, let us be perfectly clear, all of our content is completely legal and legit and we have full documentation to back that up. Neither legality nor documentation are the problem. The problem is availability.

The problem is the revisions, which go into effect on 6/24/05, require us to maintain at least 20 hours a week or more constant business hours. Currently, we do not do enough business to maintain an office, much less maintain office hours. We've considered our options, and while we are not happy about this, we absolutely refuse to give up entirely, so we are being forced into this temporary hiatus while we adapt.

All accounts that are active as of 6/24/05 will be suspended for the duration of the hiatus. Suspended accounts will have their balance refunded, pro-rated to 6/24/05. When normal business resumes in the near future all suspended accounts will be re-instated for a full month.

During the downtime we will endeavor to have some non-explicit content up at all times. We will alternate this content, rotating it roughly every two weeks. Also, during this time we won't be resting on our laurels. We plan to use this time to amass more content so we can come back better than ever! We will also be looking into other improvements we can make to the site, so if you have any suggestions, feel free to let us know. We will keep our fans up to date with any news through the VicePorn forum and our community on livejournal.com. we have some plans in the works, and we'll want you to know about them.

There is hope! There are organizations fighting the revised section 2257. we will be adding links to these brave crusaders as we have them. If they succeed, we all benefit.

Lastly, many of you reading this are friends of ours, and may be wondering what you can do to help. Well, keep checking with us, keep looking at our girls, and talk to us through livejournal, the forum or email. Check us out on myspace.com and tribe.net. Show us to your friends, and to their friends. Send us a self-addressed stamped envelopes and we'll send you a few VicePorn stickers to slap on your car, laptop, ass or whatever. make us independently wealthy so we can open an office and have business hours. If we stick together we can make it through this and not let a bunch of lawmakers ruin all our fun.
